Thank you to all our members, supporters and sponsors for their support this year. It has been an amazing year with highs including becoming New Zealand’s largest rugby club and winning North Harbour’s Rosenbluth Cup for most successful club.
Our Junior Club continues to go from strength to strength with 760 youngsters running around on a Saturday morning. Nikki Shadbolt has taken over from Garrick Henderson as Director of Junior Rugby and there are some great plans in place for the 2025 season – watch out for some colourful announcements.
Our Women’s programme continues to gain momentum and with victories in the Auckland Women’s Tens and North Harbour Sevens competitions the development of our players is on an upward trajectory. Special thanks to Iuni Mataafa and his team for all their hard work and the amazing environment they have created. We are looking forward to seeing how the Harcourts Anita Dobson & Co Premier Women perform in the Auckland Premier Women’s competition next season.
The Pro Cut Under 85s had a standout year by winning the North Harbour Fifteens and Sevens competitions. Being knocked out in the 3rd round of the U85 National Cup has left them wanting more in 2025.
Congratulations to our Premier Development side for making their final, the Ze Build Under 21 side for making their semi-final, and the BM Electrical Snails for going unbeaten. Great achievements for all teams.
It was a tough season for our Premier Men’s side, but they have regrouped under the enthusiasm and guidance of Rob Colhoun. With two months of off-season training under their belts the energy is high and expectations growing. We are looking for a naming sponsor for the Premier Men’s side – this is your opportunity!
There was an amazing effort by Club Manager, Graeme Wallace, to get the tag and touch modules up and running which made for a wonderful sight with over 1,000 participants each week. Thank you to Tim Hansen of Harcourts Cooper & Co for his support of the touch season. A special thank you to Amy Douglas and Myka Copeland for everything they do behind the scenes to keep the club on course.
We are continuing to make progress with our legacy projects. We have ordered a new scoreboard, and we presented to the Hibiscus and Bays Board on a potential use of the old Bowling Green facility last week.
Of course we couldn’t do any of this without our sponsors and I would encourage you to support or thank them whenever you have a chance. Many sponsors have already agreed to support us again in 2025, but we still have opportunities for you to support the largest rugby club in New Zealand!
