Sevens Information from North Harbour Rugby Union:
Grades on offer for 2025 North Harbour Community Sevens:
1. Senior Men's
2. Senior Women's
3. Senior U85 kgs Men's
4. Senior U21 Men's
5. Club U18's Boys (new)
6. Club U18's Girls (new)
We have decided to offer two new grades with an eye towards 2026:
1. Club U18's Boys (new)
2. Club U18's Girls (new)
Rationale - For both grades, it allows clubs to begin building for 2026, particularly in the boys' space, where the U18 Boys can flow over into the U19 grade due to be launded in 2026. For the U18 girls, it provides an opportunity for clubs to recruit and connect with potential school leavers for senior registrations in 2026. Any school registration must be affiliated to a NHRU club.
Player Eligibility Amendments:
We are also proposing the following amendments to the player eligibility for each of the grades:
1. Senior Men's - must be registered to a Harbour club or school in 2025, except for two players maximum who can be registered with another PU.
2. Senior Women's - must be registered to a Harbour club or school in 2025, except for two players maximum who can be registered with another PU.
3. Senior U85kg Men's - must be registered to a Harbour club or school in 2025, except for two players maximum who can be registered with another PU.
4. Senior U21 men's - must be registered to a Harbour club or school in 2025, except for two players maximum who can be registered with another PU.
Rationale - While we want to keep the integrity of keeping the North Harbour Community Sevens, Sevens can be used as a recruitment tool for 2026. Keeping the maximum number of players from outside of the region to two players maximum allows for the best of both principles.
1. Club U18's Boys (new) - must be born 2007 or later (2007, 2008, 2009 etc). Any school registrations must be affiliated to a NHRU club.
2. Club U18's Girls (new) - must be born 2007 or later (2007, 2008, 2009 etc). Any school registrations must be affiliated to a NHRU club.
Our Women & Girls Manager and Youth manager are going to provide a targeted approach to working with schools to provide opportunities for kids to participate in the U18 grades.
